High Definition Optics
Steiner developed these remarkable optics. The optics are own development using
the purest index matched glass, and coated using rare-earth formulations
of titanium, fluorite and other mineral substrates. The result is record
brightness and truest color, with optimal contrast
N2 Pressurization
Like many Steiner models, the Peregrine XP is Mil.spec* waterproof and is filled
pressurized at 22 PSI (7.25 PSI overpressure) with dry nitrogen.
*Meets mil std 810-F
Eye Relief
With 30mm wide eyepieces or “oculars”, you not only gain a surrounding “into-the-
image” feeling, but you get the longest eye-relief of any roof prism
binocular – making the view extremely engaging with no light or peripheral
interference.
Twist-up Eye-cups
With the XP’s extensive eye relief, you’ll be able to set the desired
eye-distance or eye relief for yourself, with or without eyeglasses, using
the convenient glare blocking side flaps, or not.
NANO Protection
The Peregrine XP uses Steiner’s revolutionary new lens coating application
called “NANO Protection” which is a permanent hydrophobic coating
that is so smooth that it’s even smooth at the molecular level. What
it means to you is waterproof and fog-proof lenses on both the objective and
eye-pieces lenses.
Gel-pad Thumb Grips
The first thing you’ll probably notice is the uniquely “grip-able” surface
on the thumb pad are of the Peregrine XP. Soft, comfortable – like pillows
for your thumbs, the feel in your hands is what will make you more effective
when you’re glassing.
Precision Center Focus
That says a lot, but we think you’ll agree. The focus is not too fast,
nor too slow – with a silky 1.5 turns, you’ll go from the 6.5 foot
close focus to infinity. However, you’ll be happy or amazed to see that
the Peregrine XP offers nearly three times the depth of field, than any similar
sized roof prism binocular, so the need for focusing is minimized – making
your eyes better, especially in low light or shadows.
Peregrine XP Accoutrements
Some of the simplest external features will be loved by you and copied by our
peers. The Clic-Loc strap system makes removal quick, and attachment of your
harness a cinch. The form-fitted Neoprene Rain Hood; goes on easy, comes
off easy, and stay put when you’re carrying your XP, while protecting
the binocular.
XP Engineered Shape & Style
The Peregrine XP doesn’t just look good, it also feels good. The smooth
rubber armoring and sculpted shape is a pleasure to hold. Under the outer
armoring, hides a high-tech lightweight high-pressure magnesium alloy chassis
that offers
unrivaled resolution and extreme durability.
Dielectric Mirrors
The roof prism’s performance is enhanced by not only a phase correction
coating, but also by a dielectric mirror that kills glare and stray light,
and boosts brightness with pinpoint sharp resolution.
Optical Perfection yet Tough as a Rock
In most cases, the two don’t go together. The Peregrine XP is much more
than a finely crafted instrument. Its attractive shape is made to be used,
and used in hard conditions. So don’t hold back, take your XP where ever
your travels and adventure take you. The XP is and will be an important part
of your discoveries, for that reason, the Peregrine XP is a proud personal
symbol, to be used for a lifetime
